sooner!
Material List:
One, 2 x 6 x 8'
One, 1 x 6 x 8'
One, 2 x 2 x 4'
Three Pieces of 3/4" PVC, 10' long
3 1/2" wood screws
Step 1 - Select 2 x 6 and
cut two pieces to 32" length.
Step 2 - Select the 1 x 6 and
cut two pieces to 32" length.
Step 3 - Select the 2 x 2 and
cut two pieces to 20" in length.
Step 4 - Select the 3/4" PVC
(thicker 1" or 1 1/4" can be used) and cut 16 pieces
to lengths of 23".
Step 5- Select the two, 1 x 6
and layout the eight holes per each board with a center line
running the length of the boards.
Step 6- Select the 1 x 6 and
place it on the top of the 2 x 6; ensure the edges are
flush; using two screws, secure the top board to the bottom;
repeat this process for the second pair of boards.
Step 7- Use the correct size
paddle bit for the PVC selected, and drill the holes
straight down through the 1 x 6 into the 2 x 6 for 3/4"
(half the thickness of the 2 x 6). When the 16 holes
are drilled, remove the screws; keep the two board sets
together so the holes will remain true.
Note: If you use
thicker PVC rods, you will use a thicker drill bit.
Step 8- Assemble the pieces;
with the PVC rods in place, select the 2 x 2's and slide
them into place; confirm that all edges are flush and the
pipes standing straight. With all pieces in place,
clamp the pieces together, and use a 3 1/2" woodscrew to
secure the top 1 x 6's through the 2 x 2's into the 2 x 6's;
two screws per edge (eight total).
Your boot rack is now complete and
ready for painting to make it waterproof; you can now keep
your footwear high and dry; enjoy.
